Santa Monica Windjammers Yacht Club
2025 Summer Sail Camp
We specialize in teaching First Time sailors but also have an exciting fleet of boats that will keep sailors engaged and enthused as they progress. Weekly sailing camp instruction designed for kids 7 to 17 years old. The boats used are provided from the SMWYC fleet of US Sabot Centerboard Prams, RS Teras, Optimist Prams, Lasers, CFJs, C420, Nikki Foiling Crafts, Wings, 29er, I-14, Foiling Board and Santana 20s to meet the needs of students of all sizes and abilities. Most of our dedicated and talented Instructors are certified by US Sailing or their home country equivalent and are thoroughly trained for success in our program. Beginning student to instructor ratio is a maximum of 6:1.
Back for 2025!
- A special class for our youngest First Time graduates called "Second Week". The perfect follow up to a First Timer - 7-8 year olds class. Students build on their skills in a small group with lots of time on the water
- Smaller Intermediate class sizes so all sailors will enjoy sailing our RS Teras with both Sport and Pro sails
- A new class for "Advanced Intermediates" where students build more skills on Lasers and 2-person boats
- "Advanced" sailors will be pushed to their limits on our C420s, 29er, I-14, Nikki foiling boats, Wings, foil board and Santana 20s
- Many of our 2024 team will be back again this summer

2020 Sail Camp is sold out
Demand for Sail Camp has been extremely strong and most sessions are already closed to registration due to the size of the waitlists. Sessions that are open to register have waitlists short enough that there is a small possibility that a new registrant could be accepted off the waitlist. We are looking at ways to provide additional alternatives to help get more folks on the water and will announce them when we have staff confirmed to accommdate addition sessions or offerings.

First Time Sailors, due to County Regulations, we no longer perform swim tests on the first day so your confirmation of your child's ability to swim is very important. We do a Capsize Drill on the first or second day of camp, and that will confirm your child is comfortable enough in the water to continue. In rare instances, this drill has excluded some students, in which case, we refund the balance of the week.

Aftercare: If available, you will be able to use the reservation system to order aftercare and pay in advance. This will be up as we get closer to Camp starting. Aftercare hours are 3:30 to 5:00 pm and the cost is $25.
